    Lore Van Hecke was born in the beautiful city of Ghent on 29 February 1988. In high school she majored in Latin, science and mathematics. Already from the age of 6 she knew she wanted to be a veterinarian, which expressed itself by vigorously practicing clinical examinations on her cats. She also started horse back riding on the age of 8 years. Following high school she graduated as a master of veterinary medicine with greatest distinction at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ghent University. After discovering her passion for research during her master thesis, she obtained her PhD at the same faculty from the Department of Surgery and Anaesthesiology of Domestic Animals.

    In 2016 she started as a scientist at Global Stem cell Technology (GST) and grew out to be the head of the R&D department in 2017. Lore authored several scientific publications and spoke on several international congresses.

    Lore married her high school sweetheart and currently they have one amazing boy together.
